Baroda has signed Ambati Rayudu as a professional for the upcoming domestic season. Rayudu was awarded a no-objection certificate by the Andhra Cricket Association, and the field was then made clear.

Baroda has also appointed Yusuf Pathan as a mentor and is attempting to reintegrate Deepak Hooda into their team.

Yusuf Pathan has been recruited by the BCA to serve as a mentor for one year to start, a position he has tentatively agreed to subject to a few conditions. Age-group and senior men and women are included in Yusuf’s position in cricket, which covers a wider range of players. In the lead-up to the season, he is anticipated to participate heavily in training camps and scouting.

“Because Baroda is a small unit, the concept is to see someone of Yusuf’s stature to help nourish the young players coming through,” Hattangadi explained.

“We have seen that players do not lack talent; it is their confidence and mental makeup that needs to be improved. We thought Yusuf would be ideal.”

Ambati Rayudu has travelled quite a bit for domestic cricket:

Ambati Rayudu is available for all formats of cricket, though lately, he has made primarily himself available for white-ball cricket. In November 2017, he completed his final first-class match.

In recent years, Ambati Rayudu has travelled quite a bit for domestic cricket, having played for Hyderabad, Andhra, and Vidarbha in addition to a two-year stint with Baroda from 2012 to 2014. While steps have been taken to persuade Deepak Hooda to return as well, he will now return to Baroda to strengthen the batting department.

The Indian all-rounder Hooda quit Baroda in late 2020 following a dispute with the team’s captain at the time, Krunal Pandya. After that, Hooda enjoyed a productive season with Rajasthan, which resulted in his selection for India.

He has been a consistent component of India’s white-ball teams since February of this year. Along with Krunal, he too enjoyed a breakthrough IPL season with the Lucknow Super Giants.
