Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali reckons that India made a mistake during the first T20I of the series against Bangladesh at Gwalior. While speaking in his recent video, Basit blamed India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir for making a big mistake.

In the video, Basit Ali also praised Mayank Yadav for making a fantastic debut. Mayank returned to professional cricket after a long time and returned figures of 1-21 in 4 overs. The young fast bowler from Delhi was highly impressive in his spell.

Basit Ali blames Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir for this mistake in the 1st T20I

While speaking in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali felt that India should have batted first as it was a 200-plus surface. He hopes that India does not make the same mistake in the 2nd T20I and put their bowlers under pressure by bowling them in dewy conditions.

"Why did Suryakumar Yadav & Gautam Gambhir choose to field first? It was a flat 200-run surface. India should have batted first. I think they will not make this mistake in the second match. They will look to put the bowlers under some pressure by making them bowl in the dew," Basit opined.

After choosing to field first, Indian bowlers did not allow Bangladesh batters to build on a good score and bundled them out for just 127 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 35 off 32 balls as none of the Bangladesh batters could dominate the Indian bowlers.

In reply, Indian batters went berserk from the first over. All the batters played an attacking mode of cricket as the Men in Blue finished off the game in just 11.5 overs with 7 wickets remaining. Hardik Pandya smashed 39 off 16 balls while Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav also chipped in with stellar combinations.

Basit Ali speaks on Mayank Yadav's debut

Basit Ali also spoke about the debut of fast bowler Mayank Yadav. Basit claimed that Mayank clocked good speeds despite returning from an injury. He even claimed that Bangladesh batters feared Mayank's pace and did not play him on the front foot.

"It was a dream debut for Mayank Yadav. He started off with a maiden and even clocked 149.9 kmph. He has come from an injury, which is why his speeds haven't been 157 or 158. Just imagine if he had been given the new ball instead of Hardik Pandya. He instilled fear. If you guys saw the match, batters didn't play him on the front foot. I hope that he remains fit and goes to Australia," Basit said.

Mayank Yadav impresses on debut

Mayank Yadav bowled a brilliant spell of bowling and finished with 1-21 in 4 overs. His first in international cricket turned out to be a maiden which is a huge achievement in itself.

Mayank was playing his first professional game after suffering an injury in IPL 2024. Since then, he has been recovering from injury and completing his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
