Basit Ali exposes Pakistan bowlers' shocking take on Morne Morkel: 'Nothing in front of us'

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has launched a scathing attack on his country's cricket team after India completed a comprehensive win over Bangladesh in the first Test at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Basit even went on to claim that Pakistani bowlers consider themselves bigger than cricket and thought that their former bowling coach Morne Morkel was nothing in front of them. Morkel was Pakistan's bowling coach earlier but resigned from the post after Pakistan's poor performance in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Basit Ali tears away Pakistan after India's win over Bangladesh

While speaking in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali spoke about India's performance against Bangladesh in Chennai. He mentioned that there is a difference of mindset and class between Indian and Pakistani teams which was evident by India's recent performance.

"We got to know the difference. This is the same Bangladesh played against Pakistan, where it seemed as if Pakistan were completely on the back foot. This is the same Bangladesh that whitewashed Pakistan. The difference is of mindset, thinking and class," Basit Ali said.

While Pakistan were completely whitewashed in the Test series by Bangladesh, India went on to win the first Test against the same opposition in a dominating manner. The Men in Blue showed why they are regarded so highly in this format.

Basit Ali also spoke about Morne Morkel's tenure with the Pakistan cricket team as their bowling coach. He claimed that Pakistan bowlers had so much ego that they considered Morkel as nothing in front of them.

“The Pakistani bowlers think that they are bigger than cricket and Morne Morkel was nothing in front of them,” he added.

Morne Morkel was appointed India's bowling coach last month. The ongoing Test series against Bangladesh is his first assignment as India's bowling coach. Morkel's name was suggested by India's head coach Gautam Gambhir, who has formerly worked with Morkel in the IPL.

Morne Morkel's experience can be vital for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, to be played in Australia later this year. Morkel has played a no. of Tests in Australia and has a great record there.

Meanwhile, it was a brilliant performance from Team India who clinched a 280-run win over Bangladesh. India had plenty of positives in the game. R Ashwin scored 113 under pressure to take his team to a brilliant first innings total of 376

Then, the fast bowlers rattled Bangladesh's line-up, thus bowling them out for just 149. Indian batters scored 287-4 in their second innings on the back of splendid hundreds from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.

Chasing a mammoth target to win, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 234 in the second innings. The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja shone for India and shared 9 wickets between them.
