"Batting With Sachin Tendulkar Was Quite Relaxing": Sanath Jayasuriya On His Playing Stint With Mumbai Indians

Former Sri Lanka batter Sanath Jayasuriya is all praiseworthy for the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar. The dashing left-handed batter was a part of Mumbai Indians (MI) from 2008 to 2010. The fans were thrilled to see the pair of Sachin & Sanath where one used to take a backseat whereas the other used to go berserk.

Sanath Jayasuriya was renowned for whacking bowlers all around the park and throughout his career, he demolished the bowling attack. Due to the inception of IPL, the fans got to see exciting opening pairs on the ground and it won’t be wrong to say that the game of Cricket has transformed.

Sanath Jayasuriya on MI And Sachin Tendulkar

Sanath Jayasuriya was seen interacting with Sportskeeda and when asked about MI. “Mumbai is my second home. In and out we were there and playing. The team and the team owners were really good and they looked after all the players. It’s like a family.”

He was asked about batting with Sachin Tendulkar. “It’s about keeping things simple. We didn’t complicate things and they always wanted me to play my natural game. So I needed to be smart to make sure that I tried and get a big score,” he stated.

Batting with Sachin was quite relaxing as he would always come and say what to do. He always kept talking about ways to execute and win matches,” Jayasuriya said.

Sanath Jayasuriya a Great Batter

The left-handed batter had developed a fear amongst the best teams in World Cricket. The batter had all the shots in the book and was quite entertaining for the crowd and spectators. Sanath was a 3 Dimensional batter who wasn’t just reliant on the short-pitch deliveries.

Sanath was also a handy left-arm off-spinner who had taken 323 wickets in the ODI format. He was a complete package and whenever the team was in trouble, the captain used to look at him. Sanath’s peculiarity was that he never got under pressure irrespective of the conditions and he was one of the reason where Sri Lanka Cricket was great at that time.
