During the BBL 2023-24 match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, Renegades wicketkeeper Jordan Cox missed a simple chance to run out Beau Webster. During the 14th over of the first innings, Webster got an inside edge off Adam Zampa which went through the short third man fielder but hit the pads of Cox.
Jordan Cox was imbalanced after the ball hit his pads and eyeing the opportunity Beau Webster and Hilton Cartwright were trying to sneak a run, there was a miscommunication between the duo. Melbourne Renegades fielder Shaun Marsh threw an underarm throw towards Cox.
However, Jordan Cox was not able to collect the ball and he dislodged the bails without having the ball in his gloves. This midfield by Jordan Cox gave Beau Webster and Hilton Cartwright enough time to return to their respective ends despite the mixup.
The bowler Adam Zampa and commentators who were on air during the incident were in total disbelief at how Jordan Cox missed the opportunity. Cox was also embarrassed by the mistake he committed.
