Brisbane Heat batter Marnus Labuschagne got out after the ‘wrong player on the strike’ goof-up against Perth Scorchers. The 32nd match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 is taking place at the Gabba, in Brisbane.
Brisbane Heat won the toss and opted to bat first. They didn’t have a great start with the bat as they lost both the openers Colin Munro and Usman Khawaja early. However, after that Marnus Labuschagne took charge and made sure that he bailed his team out of trouble.
Marnus Labuschagne batted well and played good strokes in his innings. However, he got out in a bizarre way. He shouldn’t have been out but a bizarre incident saw him getting out and jolting Brisbane Heat with another blow, in what is a table-toppers clash.
During the last ball of the 10th over, Marnus Labuschagne took the single, and the umpires called for drinks. However, what caught the attention of many was Sam Billings took the strike on the first ball of the 11th over, which Marnus should’ve faced.

Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed against Lance Morris. The pacer bowled a short of a good length delivery that was just outside off. The batter backed away and tried to dab away. He was rushed by the pace and the ball caught the outside edge and was safely pouched by the keeper.
Marnus Labuschagne played a decent hand for his team. He ended with the knock of 45 runs off 33 balls. The right-hander batted with a strike rate of over 136 and smashed 7 fours in his innings. His knock came at a crucial time for the team when they were reeling at 38/2. The batter looked in good touch but unfortunately had to take the long walk back to the pavilion.

Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gichrist, who is commentating during the ongoing game between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers, was left surprised by Marnus Labuschagne’s bizarre incident. He was left in splits and termed it as an extraordinary event. Speaking on Fox Cricket, he explained:
“Marnus scored a single off the last ball of the 10th over. They had drinks and came back out. Sam Billings faced the next ball when Marnus should have been facing. He gets a single and Marnus is out next ball. Extraordinary events.”
After Marnus Labuschagne got out, Sam Billings played a vital role for the team. The keeper-batter played a decent knock of 37 runs. Before Michael Neser played a brutal hand of unbeaten 64 runs to take his team to the big total of 191 runs. For Perth Scorchers, Ashton Agar was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/29. Jason Behrendroff also picked two wickets whereas Jhye Richardson and Lance Morris picked one scalp each.
