Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman Akram Khan changed his stance on the NOC granted to Shakib Al Hasan to play in IPL 2021. Shakib Al Hasan was unhappy with the Bangladesh Cricket Board as they misunderstood his point and clarified that he is willing to play Test cricket. While the BCB initially threatened to revoke the NOC, Akram Khan announced there would be no such action. “NOC will remain as it is and he can go and take part in IPL” BCB Director Ismail Haider said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

After Sri Lanka cricket’s confirmation of dates for the two-Test series against Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan was speculated to skip it in favour of IPL. Furthermore, the apex body of Bangladesh cricket allowed him to partake in the 14th edition of the marquee T20 league. Last week, the all-rounder opened up on his decision to play IPL and clarified that he is not detaching himself from Test cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan claimed that the people blaming him for skipping the Test series against Sri Lanka and saying he will no longer play red-ball cricket did not read his letter properly. The 34-year old stated that he wanted to participate in IPL 2021 to prepare for the T20 World Cup in India later this year and accused Akram Khan of constantly misrepresenting him.
