BCCI Announces India Women's Squad For Sri Lanka Tour, Harmanpreet Kaur To Lead, Smriti Mandhana Vice-captain

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India Women’s National Cricket Team squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team, which will be part of the India tour of Sri Lanka 2022.
The T20I series between the teams will be played on June 23, 25 and 27 while the ODI series will be played on July 1, 4 and 7.

Notably, earlier in the day, legendary batter and captain, Mithali Raj, announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket. She played 232 ODIs, 12 Tests and 89 T20I for India and scored 7805, 699 and 2364 runs in her enormously successful career.
After Mithali’s retirement, Harmanpreet was appointed as the new skipper of the One Day International (ODI) team and star batter Smriti Mandhana was named as her deputy.

“The All-India Women’s Selection Committee met on Wednesday to pick the squads for India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. India will play three T20Is and as many ODIs in Dambulla and Kandy respectively,” BCCI stated.
Meanwhile, veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami was not named in the ODI squad and Sneh Rana was unable to find a place in both ODI and T20I squads. However, Jemimah Rodrigues has found a place in the T20I squad.

India’s T20I squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia (wk), S Meghna, Deepti Sharma, Poonam Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Simran Bahadur, Richa Ghosh (wk), Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Singh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav.
