BCCI announces India’s squad for U19 Asia Cup; Ayush Mhatre named captain

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the upcoming Men’s U19 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Ayush Mhatre has been named captain of the side, while Rajasthan Royals (RR) cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also been included.
The U19 Asia Cup will take place in the UAE from December 12 to 21, featuring eight teams competing in the ODI format. The event will include the five full-member Asian nations, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, along with three sides that qualified through the ACC Men’s U19 Premier Cup.

On Friday, November 28, the BCCI announced that the Junior Cricket Committee has finalised India’s squad for the U19 Asia Cup. Ayush Mhatre will lead the side, with Vihaan Malhotra serving as vice-captain.
Kishan Kumar Singh has been included, subject to fitness clearance. The board also named four standby players: Rahul Kumar, Hemchudeshan J, and B.K. Kishore and Aditya Rawat.
India’s Squad Features with Talents Like Abhigyan Kundu and Aaron George
Suryavanshi and Mhatre have already impressed in the IPL and were retained by Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings for the 2026 season. The U19 team includes a strong group of young players, with rising talents like Abhigyan Kundu and Aaron George also part of the squad.
Overall, the selectors have picked a well-balanced and exciting squad filled with promising youngsters aiming to shine at the international level. The team also has four standby players who strengthen the backup options and add extra depth to the squad.

India Set to Face Pakistan on December 14
India has been placed in Group A for the 2025 U19 Asia Cup, where they will face Pakistan along with two teams that will join through the qualifiers. Group B features Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and another qualifier.
India will play their first group-stage match on December 12, followed by a much-anticipated clash with Pakistan on December 14. The final group match will be against Qualifier 3.
The semi-finals are scheduled for December 19, with the final to be played on December 21. All matches will be held across the ICC Academy and The Sevens venues.
