BCCI announces massive changes in IPL 2025 after Pahalgam Terror Attack

In a heartfelt tribute to the victims of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, the IPL has reportedly announced that there will be no fireworks or cheerleaders for the 42nd IPL 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad are all set to face each other for the second time this season on Wednesday, April 22, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
MI vs SRH IPL 2025 clash to honor Pahalgam Attack victims
As reported by ANI, the IPL 2025 clash between the MI and SRH will be a low affair in Hyderabad in the wake of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam. All players from MI and SRH, along with match officials, will wear black armbands in a powerful gesture of solidarity and mourning.
Additionally, a one-minute silence will be observed before the start of the match on Wednesday. The report also claimed that there will be no fireworks or cheerleaders for the SRH versus MI clash.

A BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI: “The players of two teams will wear black armbands and observe a minute’s silence in memory of all those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.”
This call has been taken after 26 people, including two foreign tourists, were brutally killed in a terror strike near the popular Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam on April 22. The nation is currently in shock, and the IPL has come together to stand with the grieving families.

MI look to extend winning run, SRH eye redemption at home
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad were a few of the struggling franchises in the first phase of the ongoing IPL 2025. Well, the five-time champions have found their mojo back in the ongoing IPL 2025, but SRH’s dismal form continues in the tournament.
While MI won back-to-back three games, SRH managed to win only two of their seven games so far in the tournament. Well, this time, Hyderabad would love to make a comeback with the home game, while MI is aiming to continue their winning streak in the match.
Speaking about the head-to-head record between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, the SRH vs. MI rivalry has always been thrilling for the fans. With 24 encounters between them, MI holds a slight upper hand with 13 wins, while SRH has claimed victory on 10 occasions. One match ended in a tie.
Sunrisers Hyderabad hold home edge against Mumbai Indians
In their most recent clash earlier this season, the MI had secured a tight 4-wicket win against the Sunrisers. On the other hand, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, their rivalry has been neck and neck. Out of the 9 matches played in Hyderabad, SRH have edged ahead with 5 wins, while MI have won 4.
Their last face-off saw SRH registering a commanding 31-run victory over MI in 2024. Hyderabad has played 61 IPL matches at their home ground, and they’ve won 37, lost 23, and had 1 tied game. One of their best moments came in March 2025 when they smashed 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals — their highest score at the venue in their season opener.
The lowest total came in 2015 when Delhi Capitals were bowled out for just 80 against SRH in Hyderabad.
