BCCI Announces Schedule For Elections

The election season for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has begun, with the electoral officer publishing the schedule.

In a seven-page letter given to state associations on Saturday (September 24), the deadline for state units to nominate their members was Saturday (September 24), and nominations are due on October 11 and 12.

Of course, the polls will take place in Mumbai on October 18, the day of the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM).

“The Electoral Officer, BCCI, hereby invites Full Members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India to submit applications to have their respective representatives (‘Representatives’) included in the Electoral Roll for the Election to be held at the General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, on 18 October 2022, for the posts specified below:

A. Five (05) posts of Office Bearers under Rule 6 of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Constitution: President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer;

B. One (01) Elective post of Member of the Apex Council under Rule 14 of the BCCI Constitution;

C. Two (02) Elective posts of Members of the Governing Council under Rule 28 of the BCCI Constitution,” the notification in possession of Cricbuzz says.

The Electoral Officer is AK Joti, a former chief election commissioner of India, as this website has previously reported. According to the notice, only a state unit representative who has been nominated may run for office.

BCCI has announced Other rules include:

Full Members are advised to exercise caution and diligence when nominating their Representatives to participate in the BCCI General Election, by their constitutional documents, the BCCI Constitution, and the instructions/directions/notifications issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India Committee of Administrators in this regard.

A Representative will be considered eligible to vote in the BCCI Election on behalf of his/her Full Member only if the application filed by the Full Member and Representative meets all of the requirements specified and includes all of the documentation prescribed in Paragraph 3 above, and the Electoral Officer, BCCI is satisfied that such person is not disqualified under the applicable rules.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India Election’s Electoral Officer maintains the authority to request more information or ask for clarification on any issue.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India Electoral Officer will make the final and conclusive decision if there are any disagreements or objections regarding the Board of Control for Cricket in India Election, from the declaration or publication of the electoral roll of qualified members to the declaration of results, including but not limited to objections to candidacy, disqualification, eligibility to vote, or the admission or rejection of a vote.

The elections will be held on October 18 and the results will also be out on the same day.
