According to a report in Cricbuzz, the BCCI has mailed to all the state associations in India and has informed them about the new rules. According to the report, the board is still considering the decision to implement the Impact Player rule in the IPL next season. In the recent meeting between the BCCI and the IPL team owners, some owners were in favor of the rule while some owners were totally against it, even calling it 'detrimental to Indian cricket.'
A decision on the implementation of the Impact Player rule for SMAT 2024 will be taken in a few days. The BCCI had also applied the Impact Player rule in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as a trial when it was brought to the IPL a couple of years ago.

It was also mentioned in the report that if the national selectors appoint an Indian international player to a state cricket match, the state will have to pay them more match fees than the other 15 members of the squad.
