The Asia Cup 2025 triumph that should have been a proud moment for India has turned into a messy cricket war between the BCCI and Mohsin Naqvi, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman. Mohsin Naqvi is also serving as Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
Even days after winning the final against Pakistan, the Indian team still hasn’t received the Asia Cup trophy, and the fight over it is now splitting the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) into two groups.
BCCI furious as Mohsin Naqvi refuses to hand Asia Cup trophy to India
As reported by Cricket Pakistan, the Asia Cup trophy is still in Dubai because ACC President Mohsin Naqvi refuses to send it to India. The Pakistani minister insisted that Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav should come to his office and collect it in person.

This has left the BCCI furious, as they had earlier instructed Suryakumar Yadav not to take the trophy and medals from Naqvi during the presentation in Dubai.
At the time, the BCCI wanted to make a point by refusing to receive the trophy from Naqvi, but now they are desperate to get the trophy back.
Sri Lanka backs India while Bangladesh stands with Pakistan in the ACC divide
In a fresh twist, the ACC, which manages Asian cricket affairs, is now clearly divided. It is being said that Mohsin Naqvi has “become an irritant for India, prompting them to try to create rifts within the ACC.”

The sources claimed that Sri Lanka is standing by India, while Bangladesh has joined hands with Pakistan. Afghanistan is reportedly switching sides whenever it suits them. The split was visible on the night of the Asia Cup 2025 final itself.
No top Sri Lankan official came for the prize ceremony in a show of support for India. On the other hand, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief Aminul Islam stood alongside Mohsin Naqvi on the stage and handed the runners-up check to Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha, who later threw it on the ground.
BCB and PCB clarify cheque incident
That moment turned into another controversy when clips started circulating in the Indian media. Reports claimed that Salman had thrown the check away in anger.
However, sources from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board explained that no player keeps holding the giant check during interviews, so Salman simply placed it down as most players do.
They accused the Indian broadcaster of cutting the footage in a way that made it look like Salman Ali Agha was being disrespectful, which they say was done to damage the relationship between India and Bangladesh. The situation has now escalated further.
PCB vows to block BCCI’s No-Confidence Motion to oust ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi
It is being said that the BCCI is planning to file a no-confidence motion against Mohsin Naqvi in the ACC to remove him from his position. But the PCB has already warned that they are ready to block any such move and will hit back strongly at India’s tactics.
Recently, Naqvi added fuel to the fire with his comments on social media. He accused the Indian media of spreading lies about him apologizing to the BCCI. The ACC chief made it clear that he has never apologized and never will, calling the reports fake propaganda aimed at misleading the Indian public.
Well, the trophy that India fought so hard to win is still sitting in Dubai, and there is no sign of the matter being resolved soon. The tension between the BCCI and PCB is growing, and the dispute now threatens to widen the cracks inside the ACC.
