BCCI Invites Bids For Staging Opening Ceremony Of WPL 2024 And IPL 2024

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (18th January) invited the bids for the rights and obligations to organize the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 is expected to take place between February 22 and March 17 whereas IPL 2024 is expected to start by March end. Ahead of both the leagues, BCCI is making sure that they get all the things right. To bid for the rights of the opening ceremony, a party first needs to purchase the RFP (Request for Proposal).
If they meet the criteria along with other terms and conditions, only then they will be allowed to bid for the rights of the opening ceremony of the WPL 2024 and IPL 2024. The governing body also mentioned that they will have the authority to cancel or amend the bidding process without any particular reason.
Releasing the official statement, BCCI stated: “The BCCI invites bids from reputed entities for acquiring the rights and obligations to stage the Opening Ceremony for the Women’s Premier League for Season 2024. Any interested party wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the RFP.
“However, only those satisfying the eligibility criteria set out in the RFP and subject to the other terms and conditions set out therein, shall be eligible to bid. It is clarified that merely purchasing the RFP does not entitle any person to bid. BCCI reserves the right to cancel or amend the bidding process at any stage in any manner without providing any reason.”
WPL 2024 likely to be played in Bengaluru and Delhi
The excitement for the WPL 2024 is on and is taking its toll on the fans. Although the official fixture for the league is yet to be announced, the reports in ESPNCricinfo have suggested that the tournament will be played between February 22 to March 17 across two venues in India.
The reports claimed that the first leg of the tournament will be played in Bengaluru whereas the second stage is expected to take place in Delhi. A total of 22 matches will be played across two venues between the five teams and it will also keep pitches fresh for the IPL.
The Women Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction recently took place. A total of 165 players went under the hammer and a a total of 30 players were Sold in the WPL auction out of which 9 were overseas. The first edition of the tournament was a big success for the BCCI and the second edition is expected to be the same.
Mumbai Indians are the defending champions. They thumped Delhi Capitals in the final last year. With the kind of team they had, they would be favorites once again to win the tournament.
On the other hand, it is also learned that the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on 22nd March. The auction of the event also took place recently and it saw some record-breaking bids. The tournament will also be preparation for the teams for the T20 World Cup 2024.
