The Asian Games 2026 will take place in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The multi-sport event will enter its third edition of organising cricket in the competition. Ahead of the competition, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared concerns over logistical issues in the country.
Previously, a source reportedly stated that the board and ACC are dissatisfied with the facilities and arrangements for players in Japan, and that an observer from the board may be sent there. If the facilities are not proper, the BCCI may consider sending a 'B' squad to the competition. Now, on Wednesday, they also broke their silence on the matter.
BCCI seeks IOA over accommodation issues for Asian Games
The board has appealed to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) regarding the logistical issues. They have concerns over accommodation at the multi-sport event, which is scheduled to take place in Aichi-Nagoya. It has emerged that the top Asian teams questioned the facilities and accommodation arrangements for the men's and women's T20 events. This is a serious concern with just a few days remaining for the tournament.
The board has asked the IOA not to accommodate two players in one room. According to reports, the Indian men's cricket team will be staying on a cruise ship, while the women's team will stay in a hotel.
BCCI to fund own players for Asian Games travelling
All players will travel business class to Japan. The women's team is scheduled to arrive on September 14 and return on September 23, and the men's team will arrive on September 21 and return on October 4.

Devajit Saikia dismisses rumours over logistical issues in Asian Games
On the other hand, the board secretary, Devajit Saikia, after the review meeting on Wednesday, dismissed the rumours that they are unhappy with the logistics and the report of sending the second string side to Japan. He also assured that if such things happen, the board will take action immediately.
"There is no such issue that we have discussed or which has been on our agenda today or previously. So, we are not going to face any difficulties in Japan. If any situation arises, we will take an appropriate call at the right time to ensure that our players and support staff receive the best facilities at the Asian Games, whether from the organisers or otherwise.
"If required, the BCCI will have its own system in place to provide the best facilities to our players," Saikia told reporters after a review meeting at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday.
Now India will be playing against Japan in a historic match for the Suzuki Cup at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture on September 22.
