The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced revised India U19 squads for the upcoming One-Day and multi-day series against Australia. The board made changes after Bengal leg-spinner Rohit Yadav was withdrawn from both squads following discrepancies in his age-related documents.
The India U19 Men’s team will host Australia U19 in a multi-format home series in September and October 2026. All three One-Day matches will be played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The first Multi-Day match will also take place at the same venue.
The 1st Youth ODI will be played on September 18, followed by the second and third matches on September 21 and 23. The first Multi-Day match is scheduled from September 27 to 30 in Rajkot, while the second fixture will take place from October 5 to 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad.
BCCI Withdraws Rohit Yadav From India U19 Squad Over Age Discrepancies
The BCCI has withdrawn Rohit Yadav from the upcoming India U19 series against Australia after discrepancies were found in his age-related records. The decision comes just months after the Bengal leg-spinner broke into the junior national team.
Rohit recently toured Sri Lanka with the India U19 side and impressed in the Youth Test, where he claimed six wickets. His performance earned him a place in the squad for the Australia series.
Following Rohit’s withdrawal, the Junior Cricket Committee made two changes to the India U19 squads. Saurashtra’s Aryan Savsani has been added to the One-Day squad, while Haryana’s Tanmay Baloda has joined the multi-day team.
BCCI Takes Action After Age-Verification Exercise
The BCCI confirmed Rohit’s withdrawal in an official release but did not mention the reported two-year ban. According to Sportstar, the board suspended the Bengal cricketer with immediate effect after an age-verification exercise raised questions over his records.
“Rohit, who was named in India’s U19 squads for the upcoming fixtures against Australia U19 at Rajkot and Ahmedabad, has been withdrawn from the squad due to age discrepancies,” the BCCI said in an official release.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) reportedly examined Rohit’s documents before referring the matter to the BCCI. Notably, the investigation found multiple changes to his date of birth over the years.
When Rohit registered with the CAB in 2014, his date of birth was listed as July 7, 2007. His Aadhaar records later showed his birth year as 2006 in 2017 and 2020 before it was changed to 2009 in 2021.
His address details also changed during this period. His original records listed an address in Uttar Pradesh, while later documents showed Howrah and then Liluah.
