The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah stated that President Roger Binny and National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman will discuss with Indian women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur regarding her behaviour during the last ODI against Bangladesh.
Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her frustration and hit the stumps with her bat following her dismissal in the match, which ended in a tie. Kaur described the umpiring as “pathetic” during the post-match presentation. She invited the umpires to join the Bangladesh team at the post-series photo session.
The ICC Has Already Banned Her – Jay Shah
Speaking after the BCCI meets with the staging state associations of the upcoming World Cup, Jay Shah opened up about the controversy involving Harmanpreet Kaur.
“We will have our President Roger Binny and VVS Laxman speak to her (regarding the outburst). The ICC has already banned her and the time to appeal against the decision has already passed,” Shah told reporters.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended Harmanpreet Kaur for two matches due to her poor behaviour. As a result, she will miss the team’s first two matches in the Asian Games 2023, which are scheduled to be played in Hangzhou in September.
Harmanpreet Kaur Fined 75% Of Match Fee
Harmanpreet Kaur was fined 50% of her match fee and received three demerit points for a Level 2 offence for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision. She was also fined 25% of her match fee for public criticism related to her dismissal.
“India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been suspended for her team’s next two international matches following two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third match of their ICC Women’s Championship series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday,” the ICC statement read.
