The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 is all set to get underway on Sunday, September 14, in Dubai. This Asia Cup 2025 match faces controversy due to the ongoing Operation Sindoor following the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.
There has been massive outrage among the fans, former cricketers, and politicians over the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash in Dubai, with many calling for a boycott. However, the Indian government has already approved the highly anticipated match.
BCCI’s ‘Silent Boycott’ hit headlines ahead of the big Asia Cup 2025 game
But this time, the electric buzz, the roaring crowds, and the relentless energy from BCCI officials and fans won’t be the same as the previous encounters. For years, the high-voltage India vs Pakistan match wasn’t just a game; it was an emotion, and even the BCCI officials and state representatives were cheering the team from the stands, making it a grand spectacle.
Last time, when the two arch-rivals met in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 game in Dubai, BCCI’s top brass, along with representatives from multiple state associations, had made their presence felt. Yet, this time around, the scenes will not be the same.
With just 24 hours left for the India vs Pakistan clash, none of the senior BCCI officials have reportedly touched down in Dubai. India’s boycott wave against this match is gaining momentum. The recent Pahalgam terrorist attack and Operation Sindhu have stirred strong emotions nationwide.

Only one BCCI official is likely to attend the India vs Pakistan game
As reported by Dainik Jagran, it is not a formal protest but a “silent boycott” by the BCCI to send a message to Pakistan and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) without words. Given the current situation, many BCCI officials decided to stay away from the game this time.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has already opted out of supporting the India vs Pakistan game from the stands in Dubai, citing preparations for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal has openly boycotted the game.
On the other hand, the BCCI treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia and joint secretary Rohan Desai are also expected not to travel to Dubai for the match. However, the BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, who is also an executive member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), is likely to attend the match in Dubai.
Rajeev Shukla is currently serving as the board’s interim president, and reports suggested that he will be the only official likely to be seen in the VVIP box during the Asia Cup 2025 clash.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah ditches India vs Pakistan clash
Meanwhile, the former BCCI secretary and current ICC chairman Jay Shah will also not attend the high-profile match. The former ACC chairman has decided to attend a high-level meeting in the United States instead of Dubai during this time.
With the stakes high and emotions running deeper than ever, this “silent boycott” by India’s top officials is sending shockwaves across the world.
Notably, India kicked off their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a nine-wicket win over the UAE in Dubai, and they would be eager to crush their arch-rivals Pakistan in their second group match on Sunday.
