Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) will not push for the postponement of 2020 T20 World Cup to accommodate the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the October window, treasurer Arun Dhumal. The global governing council will need to arrange the logistics for the marquee event days before its scheduled beginning and at the moment in all likeliness it looks impossible with the cricket calendar being effected due to novel coronavirus pandemic.

At least 17 T20I matches were decided to be played in the run up to the 2020 T20 World Cup but at the moment it looks impossible. At this position, Cricket Australia have suggested that the Indian cricket board, might push ICC to postpone the event to next year. It will also open up the October window for the IPL 2020.

Why should the BCCI suggest postponing the Twenty20 World Cup: Arun Dhumal

However, the cricket board treasurer Arun Dhumal, looked in no mood to suggest about the postponement of the T20 World Cup to the global governing council. He, however, said there will discussions in the meeting and whatever is the best possible solution will be taken ahead.

“Why should the BCCI suggest postponing the Twenty20 World Cup?” Arun Singh Dhumal told Reuters by telephone.

“We’ll discuss it in the meeting and whatever is appropriate, (the ICC) will take a call.

“If the Australia government announces that the tournament will happen and Cricket Australia is confident they can handle it, it will be their call. BCCI would not suggest anything.”

Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa (CSA) director of cricket Graeme Smith had suggested that, in the current scenario the IPL 2020 looks set to be postponed to early next year.
