The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put Indian pacer Chetan Sakariya on the suspect bowling action list ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction, as per Cricbuzz. The event will take place in Coca-Cola Arena on 19th December in Dubai.
Chetan Sakariya, who was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2024, has not been banned for his bowling action but might be under threat. The BCCI has informed all the franchises ahead of the auction about the development related to fast bowlers.
Chetan Sakariya is, however, not the only pacer to be on the suspect action list. Along with him, seven other players have been identified with wrong bowling action. The seven bowlers are Tanush Kotian of the Mumbai Cricket Association, Rohan Kunnummal of the Kerala Cricket Association, Chirag Gandhi of Gujarat Cricket Association, Salman Nizar of Kerala Cricket Association, Saurabh Dubey of Vidarbha Cricket Association, and Arpit Guleria of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.
Apart from them, BCCI has banned Manish Pandey and KL Shrijith of Karnataka State Cricket Association from bowling. The governing body is also expected to inform franchises soon about the availability of foreign players for IPL 2024. This is because, with the T20 World Cup 2024 around the corner, players might not take part or leave the tournament midway.
A total of 333 cricketers will go under the hammer in the IPL 2024 auction. Out of 333 players, 214 players are from India whereas 119 overseas players, including two from associate nations. 116 capped players are on the list with 215 being uncapped, apart from this there are two associate nations players.
Chetan Sakariya IPL Stats
Chetan Sakariya hasn’t played much cricket in IPL. The left-arm pacer has played 19 games in the tournament, playing for Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. He has picked 20 wickets in the league so far at an economy of just over 8. The fast bowler has been out of action since the last IPL.
Chetan Sakariya has missed a lot of cricket due to the stress fracture in his back. He didn’t feature in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy and is expected to make a comeback in the Ranji Trophy. He has set himself at a base price of INR 50 lakh in the IPL auction.
