BCCI releases full players list for WPL 2026 mega auction; Deepti Sharma, Laura Wolvaardt among marquee players

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the full roster of players set to go under the hammer at the Women’s Premier League 2026 mega auction. According to a statement from the Indian cricket board, the much-anticipated auction will be held in New Delhi on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

A total of 17 players, including seven overseas, have been retained by the five WPL franchises. The teams will have a purse of ₹41.1 crore for the auction. UP Warriorz have the biggest purse at ₹14.5 crore after retaining only one player. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will head into the auction with ₹5.75 crore.

A total of 277 cricketers have been shortlisted for the 2026 auction. Of them, 194 are Indian players competing for 50 spots, while the remaining 23 vacancies can be filled by overseas talent. The auction will begin with the marquee set of players at 3:30 PM IST.

"The TATA WPL 2026 Auction list has been announced, with a total of 277 players vying for 73 available slots, with the auction set to take place in New Delhi on 27th November," a statement from the WPL said.

"The auction list includes 194 Indian players, comprising 52 capped and 142 uncapped players, who will go under the hammer for 50 slots, while 66 overseas capped players and 17 overseas uncapped players will look to fill the 23 available slots," the statement added.

Deepti Sharma, Laura Wolvaardt and Alyssa Healy Among Marquee Player Lineup

Deepti Sharma (India), Renuka Singh (India), Sophie Devine (New Zealand), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Alyssa Healy (Australia), Amelia Kerr (New Zealand), Meg Lanning (Australia), and Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa) are part of the marquee set of players.

There are 19 names in the ₹50 lakh bracket, 11 players in the ₹40 lakh bracket, and 88 in the ₹30 lakh bracket. Most members of the marquee group have listed themselves at the maximum ₹50 lakh base price. However, Renuka Singh has entered at ₹40 lakh, and Wolvaardt at ₹30 lakh.

The overseas group is packed with elite performers, including some of the world’s best all-rounders, spinners, and wicketkeeper-batters. Notably, the marquee list is expected to attract major attention when bidding begins for the WPL 2026 season.

Two UAE Players and One Each from Thailand and the USA Included in WPL Auction Pool

India have the maximum representation, while Australia follow with 23 names. England have 22 players on the list, New Zealand 13, and South Africa 11. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka each have three shortlisted players, the UAE have two, and Thailand and the USA have one representative each.

Teams will enter the auction with different purse amounts and Right To Match (RTM) options. Gujarat Giants have the purse at ₹9 crore, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals have ₹6.15 crore and ₹5.70 crore, respectively.

UP Warriorz have four RTM cards available, Gujarat Giants have three, and RCB have one. Mumbai and Delhi, having retained their full quota of five players, have no RTMs left. DC retained Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues, both of whom were instrumental in India’s World Cup title run.
