India vs Pakistan always brings in excitement on and off the field. The matches over the years have produced some amazing encounters between the two nations. However, there have been some tensions since the Asia Cup 2025. Now the tensions have grown further stronger with the Pakistan Cricket Board, after delays in their confirmation of participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka have confirmed their presence in the major tournament.

However, despite playing the tournament, the Men in Green are set to boycott the India vs Pakistan match. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is backing the government's decision to boycott this game against Suryakumar Yadav’s side. Though no official reason has been given behind the call, ICC has been looking into the matter seriously, and there can be serious actions against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Devajit Saikia comments on the India vs Pakistan match

There has been no official confirmation sent to the global cricketing body by the PCB regarding the announcement made by the Pakistan government. In an exclusive interview with CNN News18, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia commented on the ongoing rift taking place for the India vs Pakistan match. He has said that the board will soon issue an official statement once it receives an official confirmation on the following reports.

However, he has refused to make any comment at the moment, Devajist Saikia stated, “I can’t make any comment till the moment I receive the official intimation. It will not be right for me to pass any comment on this issue. The outcome of match can be anything, but the thing is that once we get the information then we will give our official statement on this development.”

Pakistan can face serious actions against boycott

If India vs Pakistan does not happen, there will be serious actions taken against them. As per the rules formed by the global body, a walkover is awarded only if one team fails to be present at the ground during the time of the coin toss.

Except for that includes the docking of World Test Championship points, no movement in ICC rankings, top member nations refusing to travel to Pakistan, and finally, sanctions on the participation of players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

ICC releases official statement on the rift

The ICC released an official statement, “While the ICC respects the roles of governments in matters of national policy, this decision is not in the interest of the global game or the welfare of fans worldwide, including millions in Pakistan. The ICC hopes that the PCB will consider the significant and long-term implications for cricket in its own country as this is likely to impact the global cricket ecosystem, which it is itself a member and beneficiary of.”

India vs Pakistan is the marquee event in the cricket fraternity, though the rivalry in recent times has been one-sided across all competitions. India has won 5 out of the last five games played against their arch rivals across competitions. Both teams have been in good form as they won their last T20I bilateral series.
