India's men's and women's cricket teams met King Charles III at St. James's Palace in London on Tuesday (July 15). Both teams are currently in England for their series. While the men's team is playing a five-match Test series, the women's team is in the country for five T20Is and three ODIs.

The meeting with King Charles III was attended by not only the players but also the support staff and other senior officials such as BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla.

Following the meeting, Rajeev Shukla has become the talk of the town thanks to a special present that he gave to the British monarch.

Rajeev took to X to tell his followers about the gift. He revealed that he had presented his book 'Scars of 1947' to the monarch. Posting a picture of himself gifting the book to the monarch, he wrote:

"Presented my book scars of 1947 to King Charles at st.James palace his house. He took lot of interest in content of the book."

As soon as Rajeev Shukla shared the message on social media, the fans responded with a flurry of humorous reactions. One follower wrote: "Rajeev Shukla presented a book titled "Scars of 1947" to the King of United Kingdom. The series now stands at 2-2"

Another said that only Shukla can bring the Kohinoor back to India, writing: "Only you can get Kohinoor back" while another user wrote: "Gifting the book which contains scars given by the British to the British King. Rajeev Shukla does not play with fire, he is the fire!!"

One more user wrote: "Sir, I still remember my grandfather narrating your heroic deeds from the 'Non-Cooperation Movement' of the 1920s. And today, here you are - presenting your book to the very people you once resisted. Life truly has come full circle. Blessed to witness your timeless journey."

Rajeev Shukla called the meeting with King Charles a 'very historic occasion'. He pointed out that the king was well aware of the players' personal lives.

"It was a very historic occasion that both our men's and women's teams were invited today by King Charles and met them very well in the Palace. Players are very happy because he asked for all personal details of each player.

"He asked Saikia ji and me about whether Arun Jaitley is my friend, what happened to him, and when I told him that he had died, he asked me to pay condolences to his family. He also asked about Akash Deep's sister's illness," Shukla said.

Team India falls behind in the 5-match series

Meanwhile, the men's team will look to bounce back after losing the third Test at Lord's. England won the match by 22 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

On the other hand, the women's team registered a historic win in the T20I series against England and will now look to win the upcoming ODI series too.
