Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya shared an interesting anecdote about the legendary Indian captain Kapil Dev.
Hardik Pandya has been named in India’s T20 World Cup 2021 15-member squad. According to reports, he is still not fully to bowl complete 4 overs in T20 cricket, but his rich experience of finishing the game with bat can’t be neglected, and he will play the role of a finisher in the team.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli-led India National Cricket Team is placed in the Group 2 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 alongside Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan. The Men In Blue will commence their journey in the T20 World Cup with a battle against arch-rivals Pakistan on 24 October at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
It Was Special To Receive That Cap Because Kapil Dev Gave It To Me – Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya received his One Day International debut cap from the legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev in 2016. Pandya said that getting his debut cap from the Haryana Hurricane was a special moment for him.
“It was special to receive that cap because Kapil Dev gave it to me and told me, ‘You do better than what I have done. You will succeed. Keep working hard’,” Pandya told The Cricket Monthly in an interview.
Further, Pandya opened up about a phone call that he had with the World Cup-winning captain before his back surgery in London. Notably, Hardik was having some back issues, and he underwent surgery in 2019.
“Before my back surgery, it was very sweet of him to call and say: “Beta, please aap haldi ka doodh peena. Sab theekh ho jayega [Son, drink turmeric milk and everything will be all right]. Take care,” Dev told Pandya.
