The latest update has arrived on the fitness of the England National Cricket Team Test captain Ben Stokes, who suffered a major injury scare on Day 1 of the Lord's Test.

The third Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between Ben Stokes-led England and Shubman Gill-led India commenced on Thursday, July 10, at Lord's in London.

The Three Lions won the toss and elected to bat first in the Lord's Test. India put the brakes on Bazball as, despite batting the entire day, the hosts could only post 251 runs on the board at the loss of four wickets, and they scored at a run rate of 3.02.

At stumps, batting great Joe Root remained unbeaten on 99* off 191 balls, with 9 fours, and skipper Ben Stokes was at 39* off 102 balls, with 3 fours.

During his stay in the middle, Stokes seemingly picked up a groin injury that left the England team management concerned. When he was batting on 32, he took a step forward before leaving a delivery from Nitish Kumar Reddy outside off and immediately winced in pain, clutching at his right groin.

The physio came in running on the ground to give some treatment to the English skipper, and the latter was fit enough to continue batting. However, he was still in visible discomfort, hobbling as he set off for a run and sitting on his haunches trying to loosen up between deliveries.

After the end of the play on Day 1, Ollie Pope was asked about an update on Stokes, and he stated that the skipper looked pretty sore and was hopeful of the problem improving overnight.

Meanwhile, ahead of the play on Day 2, BBC reported that the England National Cricket Team captain has resumed bowling at Lord's without facing troubles, which is a good sign for the hosts.

"England captain @benstokes38 has been bowling this morning @HomeOfCricket without any obvious issues. There had been injury concerns after he was seen to be struggling batting last night," the post from the BBC Test Match Special on X read.

Hopefully, he pulls up better but this is worrying - Stuart Broad

Speaking on Sky Sports about Ben Stokes' injury, pace-bowling legend Stuart Broad said that it is a big problem for England. He stated:

"I don't know exactly what it is - but it's a big problem. He has a huge pain threshold so for him to be limping, feeling it, and even be thinking about calling for the physio, it's a big problem. England will be working tirelessly on him. Hopefully he pulls up better but this is worrying."

Broad also opined that the hosts won the first day of the Lord's Test because they only lost four wickets and had a decent score on the board. He said:

"With the swing on offer with that second new ball, if India had made a couple of breakthroughs then it was their day. If I was in India's changing room opening the bowling, I would have loved three or four overs with that ball to see what could have happened. I think England will be happy only losing four wickets and ultimately, I think it is probably England's day."
