Ben Stokes showed a brilliant piece of fielding by grabbing a tough catch to dismiss Shreyas Iyer in IND vs ENG 2nd Test. Former England player Kevin Pietersen hailed Ben Stokes for his fielding efforts. He also praised the England skipper for his dedication to diet which helped him to shred weights ahead of the India vs England Test series.

Shreyas Iyer hit a Tom Hartley’s delivery between mid-off and long-off. Ben Stokes ran backwards from mid-off to grab an outstanding catch. His fielding set the England fans inside Vizag Stadium on fire. Fans also hailed the England skipper on X for his marvelous fielding.

Notably, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill had etched a good stand of 81 runs for the 3rd wicket. They were all about to set up a big partnership before Ben Stokes hampered their plans. As Iyer lost his wicket, India hailed at 111-3 in the 2nd innings.

Kevin Pietersen hails Ben Stokes for his dedication to diet for IND vs ENG series

Former England skipper and batter Kevin Pietersen is one of the commentators for the IND vs ENG Test series. During the lunch on Day 3, the former right-handed batter hailed Ben Stokes on Jio Cinema for his dedication to diet. Fellow commentator Pragyan Ojha heaped praises on Stokes for his fielding efforts. Ojha said the way Stokes covered the ground was amazing.

“At one point I thought maybe the ball is ahead of him, the way he covered the ground was amazing. You cannot keep Stokes away from the game, his batting, fielding and leads his team,” Pragyan Ojha said.

To this, Kevin Pietersen noted how Ben Stokes lost 10 kgs before the India series and hailed the England skipper for his dedication to diet.

“Stokes lost 10 kgs before coming to India. After his knee injury he sat at home in England. The dedication that he has shown to be so strict on his diet is quite something,” Kevin Pietersen said.

India set 399 target for England in 2nd Test

Meanwhile, India has set a target of 399 runs for England in IND vs ENG 2nd Test. While Yashasvi Jaiswal elevated India’s batting in 1st innings with his double century, Shubman Gill shattered a century in the 2nd innings to propel the team to a powerful total.

Ben Stokes was quite impressive with the bat in the 1st innings, scoring a crucial 47 runs for the team. However, the England skipper will need a better batting show in the 2nd innings to lead his team to victory.

Among bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah has been a wonderful bowler for India, picking 6 wickets in the 1st innings. For England, Tom Hartley hunted 4 wickets while Rehan Ahmed clinched 3 wickets in the 2nd innings. India batted first and piled up 396-10 in 1st innings. England replied with 253 all-out. Later, India got out for 255 in 2nd innings.
