Stokes, who pulled out his name from IPL 2022 auction to be available for County Championship, won’t rush playing for Durham and will wait for the scan results.
“My knee problems out in the Caribbean, I am getting all the scans … so I literally can’t make any plans until we see what is going on there,” Stokes said on the Round the Wicket podcast on Tuesday.
“At the moment, no training until I get these scans, then we find out what is going on, then hopefully can make a plan from there on.”
“(We need to) break it down a lot simpler and just go ‘right, it’s me against you’ rather than me against the whole situation of this whole game,” he added.
The England all-rounder amassed 194 runs in six innings and picked seven wickets with the ball in the three Tests against West Indies. The hosts won 1-0 after their 10-wicket victory in the final Test match in Grenada.
I know how to manage my knee injury: Ben Stokes
During the Ashes 2021-22, Stokes allayed concerns about his knee injury that hampered his bowling in the Brisbane Test. He bowled just 12 overs in the first Test, which England lost by nine wickets.

“People will have seen me rubbing my knee from time to time when I was in the field, but rest assured I’m fine. It is an old injury that flares up every now and again, but I know how to manage it,” Stokes had wrote in a column for The Mirror in December last year.
“It just gets a little bit uncomfortable every now and again in and around my cartilage. But it just looks worse than it is by the way I try and get off it as soon as I can,” he further mentioned.
Durham will play theit first match of County Championship Division Two 2022 against Glamorgan, the match starts on Thursday (April 7) at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
