Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Tushar Deshpande mocked the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by sharing a meme on his Instagram story. Tushar Deshpande's post came after Royal Challengers Bengaluru's loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

The Royal Challengers suffered another heartbreaking defeat in the IPL playoffs. The Faf du Plessis-led team endured a four-wicket loss in the Eliminator match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22. Their six-match winning streak ended with the loss in the knockout game.

RCB posted a respectable total of 172/8 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Virat Kohli (33), Rajat Patidar (34), Mahipal Lomror (32), and Cameron Green (27) provided key contributions. However, Dinesh Karthik failed to score quickly in the death overs, as he was dismissed for 11 runs off 13 balls.

For RR's bowling department, left-arm pacer Trent Boult conceded just 16 runs in his four overs and picked up the wicket of Faf du Plessis. Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets, including Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell, for 19 runs in his quota. Avesh Khan bagged three wickets but gave away 44 runs.

The total set by RCB wasn't sufficient for their bowlers to defend as the Rajasthan Royals successfully chased the target within 19 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (45) and Riyan Parag (36) played a crucial role in RR's victory. Following the win, the Sanju Samson-led team secured a berth in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2024.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru knocked the Chennai Super Kings out of playoff qualification on Saturday. The RCB team secured fourth place in the IPL 2024 standings by defeating CSK by 27 runs. CSK managed to reach 191/7 in their chase of 219 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

We Felt We Were Short With The Bat - Faf du Plessis

Speaking after RCB's exit, captain Faf du Plessis said that they were 20 runs shy of a good score considering the dew factor. The RCB skipper praised the team's fighting spirit and resilience despite the loss in the knockout match.

"With the dew coming, we felt we were short with the bat. Did think we were 20 runs shy of what was a good score. Credit to the boys - they fought really well. That's all you can ask for. If you look at naturally assessing the pitch and conditions, you would say it's a 180 pitch because it was swinging upfront and was quite slow. But what we've found out this season, with the impact player, the par score isn't enough any more. Also with the dew coming in," Du Plessis said.
