Australian opener Travis Head made an instant impact with the bat during his comeback match against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2023. Head started his first match in the marquee tournament with a brilliant century in Dharamshala on Saturday.

Travis Head returned to the playing XI against the Black Caps, replacing all-rounder Cameron Green in the lineup. The left-handed batter provided a flying start alongside David Warner, helping the team post the highest-ever powerplay total in ODI World Cup history.

Travis Head Ruled Out Of Five Matches In ICC World Cup 2023

The 29-year-old was ruled out of the first five matches of the World Cup due to an injury sustained during the ODI series against South Africa last month. The southpaw was hit by a bouncer from Gerald Coetzee on his left hand, which resulted in a broken wrist.

Head has been in brilliant form across the formats in international cricket this year. The opening batter scored 241 runs in seven ODIs at an impressive batting average of 48.20 and a remarkable strike rate of 141.76. He smashed two fifties before the ongoing match.

Head made a century on his ODI World Cup debut, joining the elite list of batters. He achieved this milestone in just 59 balls, making it the third-fastest century in the ongoing tournament. He repaid the team management for including him, despite not being 100% fit.
