Bhuvneshwar Kumar Looking Forward To Pick Rahul Dravid's Brain On The Mental Side Of Things During Sri Lanka Tour

Veteran Indian seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is looking forward to playing under the coaching of former Indian skipper and legendary batsman, Rahul Dravid, during the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be serving as stand-in captain Shikhar Dhawan’s deputy for the three-match ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, starting July 13.

With head coach Ravi Shastri currently in England with the main Indian team, Rahul Dravid will make his debut as the national sides’ coach.

Bhuvneshwar, who played a few IPL games against Rahul Dravid besides being his teammate at RCB during the initial stage of his career, said that while he doesn’t have any such memories with the former Indian international, he has spent some time with Dravid during his stay at NCA.

‘’I have played against him (Rahul Dravid) and he was a part of the RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) team just when I got inducted into the team,” Kumar told Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’.

“So, I don’t have any such memories with him, but when I got to the NCA (National Cricket Academy), we did have some chats,” he added.

Bhuvneshwar further added that he is lucky to have Dravid as head coach and during the course of the Sri Lankan tour, he will be looking to pick the former cricketer’s brain as to how he managed himself mentally for such a long time during his 16-year international career.

”I am lucky that he (Dravid) is the coach. The young players have played under him for India A. So, we want to work under him and pick his brain and want to understand how he manages things at that level for such a long time,” added the 31-year-old seamer.
