While both teams will play their 9th game of this BBL season, it will be also their second meeting of this tournament. Earlier in this season, during the 29th match of the BBL 10 on last Tuesday (5th January), they faced each other at Adelaide where Strikers won by 60 runs.

On 28th December 2020, Adelaide Strikers faced Perth Scorchers at this venue. While Strikers scored 165/8 (20 overs) in the first batting, Scorchers were bundled out for only 94 runs. In their return game of this season at the same venue on 31st December 2020, Scorchers successfully chased the 147 runs target in 17.4 overs after losing three wickets.

On last Tuesday (5th January 2021), Adelaide Strikers faced Melbourne Renegades for the first time this season at this Adelaide Oval (Adelaide). While Strikers scored 171/5 (20 overs), Renegades only managed to reply with 111 runs (19.1 overs).

The records also claim that the 170+ totals are difficult to chase at this venue.
