In a colossal blow for the England Women's National Cricket Team, the skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of the remainder of the T20I series against India Women's National Cricket Team.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the development via a post on X.com on Saturday, July 5, and has named a replacement for Nat Sciver-Brunt in the T20I squad.
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt ruled out of the T20I series against India
The superstar all-rounder and England Women's National Cricket Team captain Nat Sciver-Brunt suffered an injury to her left groin in Bristol and missed the third T20I against India Women's National Cricket Team.
The scans further revealed that the 32-year-old would not be able to achieve fitness for the remainder of the series, but is likely to be available for selection for the three-match ODI series against the Women in Blue.
Maia Bouchier has officially replaced Sciver-Brunt in the T20I squad, and Tammy Beaumont will be captaining the English team in the series.
"Nat Sciver-Brunt will miss the rest of the Vitality IT20 series against India due to the injury to her left groin she sustained in Bristol," the ECB said in an official statement on X.
"Tammy Beaumont will continue to captain in her absence, with Maia Bouchier replacing Sciver-Brunt in the squad. Sciver-Brunt is expected to be available for selection for the start of the Metro Bank ODI series."

England Women's keep the series alive
The T20I series between India Women's and England Women's currently stands at 2-1 in favour of the visitors. India Women won the series opener by a huge margin of 97 runs at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, thanks to Smriti Mandhana's historic century. Then, the visitors won the second T20I by 24 runs at the County Ground in Bristol as Amanjot Kaur showcased her all-round heroics.
In the third T20I, the hosts finally bounced back at the Kennington Oval in London and registered a 5-run victory to avoid the series defeat.
Batting first, they posted 171/9 on the board, riding on the sensational half-centuries from Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, and with the ball, they restricted Team India to 166/5.
Speaking after the match, the stand-in captain Tammy Beaumont said that she was proud of the fight displayed by her teammates. She said:
"That's what you look for in cricket. We came up on the right side, I absolutely love the fight from the girls there and so proud of every single one of them."
If we are honest, the wicket was a little bit hard to start on - Tammy Beaumont
Tammy Beaumont further said that the pitch for the third T20I was hard to bat on, but Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge made batting look easy. She said:
"If we are honest, the wicket was a little bit hard to start on, and the longer the partnership went on, we forgot that. We went in and tried to play the same shots Danny and Sophia played and there was a collapse. We will learn from that and cope with it on wickets like that."
Tammy Beaumont also admitted that the England Women's National Cricket Team didn't deliver a perfect performance and elaborated:
"It's a massive moment for this team, it's a young and inexperienced team, we know it's not a perfect performance. But we know now we can go toe-to-toe with this Indian team and come out on top. The death bowling was with so much clarity and it was pleasing.
"(Filer) She changed the game, she was fiery and hitting people on the head, bowling fast is not easy but tonight she changed the game. I had Capsey up my sleeve as well, but went with the five out and out bowlers, even Dean's figures don't reflect how well she bowled."
