India National Cricket Team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is all set to be handled carefully by the BCCI to keep him fit and fresh for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that the pacer won't play much part in the white-ball series against England National Cricket Team.

The reports claimed that Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the majority of the England series to be 100% fit for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The India National Cricket Team will be hosting England for five T20Is and the three-match ODI series in January and February.

Jasprit Bumrah played all five games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and bowled over 150 overs

This comes after the mountain-like effort by Jasprit Bumrah in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where he took 32 wickets. The India National Cricket Team fast-bowler gave his all for the team in the entire five-match Test series and this surely would've taken a lot out of him and his body.

Bumrah played all five games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and bowled over 150 overs in the series, and it ultimately saw his body giving up. During the last Test against the Australia National Cricket Team in Sydney, he had to walk out after bowling just 10 overs in the first innings.

Jasprit Bumrah experienced back spasms in the last game of BGT 2024-25

Bumrah experienced back spasms and even went for scans. He didn't even turn out to bowl in the second innings, and this cost the India National Cricket Team, too, as they lost the match by the margin of 6 wickets and also lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 by the margin of 3-1.

The degree of Bumrah's back spasm is not known, but if it is in the grade 1 category, then it will take a minimum of two to three weeks of rehabilitation. In Grade 2, it can take up to six weeks while Grade 3 requires a minimum of three months of rest and rehabilitation programmes.

Jasprit Bumrah might play the last ODI against England in Ahmedabad

With BCCI confident that Bumrah will play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 it is expected that his back spasm will be either in the grade 1 or grade 2 category. The reports added that the fast bowler won't be playing any T20Is this year as this is not a T20 World Cup year.

Had Jasprit Bumrah been 100% fit, there were chances that he would've played the entire ODI series, considering that there was a month gap between Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and the first ODI against England, which will be played on 6th February in Nagpur.

There are chances that he might play one match in the series - the last one, which will be played at his home ground in Ahmedabad. The match will be played on 12th February and will be the last ODI for India ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
