The RCB skipper, Rajat Patidar, made a shocking claim where he almost seemed certain that the IPL 2026 final would be played at his franchise's home ground at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, and also seemed confident enough to be one of the teams entering the finals.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru side won the IPL 2026 title, ending their jinx of over 18 seasons. However, despite their stellar form, their biggest drawback at the end of the season was the massacre at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in RCB's victory parade.

Since then, the Chinnaswamy has been restricted from acting as a venue for domestic as well as international matches, as the commission investigating them revealed that the ground does not have the arrangements required to qualify as a ground hosting so many spectators.

Did Rajat Patidar just confirm the venue for IPL 2026?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are taking on the Delhi Capitals at their home ground in the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Ahead of the start of the game, the RCB skipper Rajat Patidar made a shocking claim while speaking after the end of the toss.

Rajat Patidar claimed that they will be hosting the finals of the 2026 IPL; however, no such confirmation has yet arrived from the IPL governing committee of the BCCI. Though, as per the rules of the IPL, the defending champions get to host the final match of the next season; however, the confirmation was absent following the unforgettable mismanagement at this venue.

“Of course, there was a lot of planning behind it. And as you know, this year we have a final at Chinnaswamy, so we have to win all the home matches," the defending team’s skipper said.

The Chinnaswamy was also about to host India Women's World Cup matches, including some playoffs, and also would have hosted the Indian Men's T20 World Cup matches had it not been for that mishap in the victory parade.

RCB have made an undefeated start at the Chinnaswamy in IPL 2026

The defending champions of the IPL, the Royal Challengers, with their first-ever title, are playing a season as the best side for the first time. They are being led by Rajat Patidar, the young batter from Madhya Pradesh.

However, unlike last season, when they were losing matches at their own home ground, this season they are undefeated on their home ground so far. They have played three matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Having played their first two games against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Chennai Super Kings, RCB made a winning start, only to lose their only game at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. They returned with their last game against the Lucknow Super Giants, winning which sealed their third win of the season and rose to no. 2 on the points table.

RCB became the first team in IPL history with this unique record at Chinnaswamy

Keeping Rajat Patidar as the skipper of the RCB side, the franchise stands at the juncture of a new phase, where they have recently completed playing 100 home matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The ongoing RCB vs DC match marks the fourth game for the Challengers here in Bengaluru, while the Delhi Capitals are also in the quest for their third win in the season. The Capitals, too, made a promising start, winning their first two matches.

Rajat Pattidar has been RCB's best batter on show, as he has not only scored the second-most runs for the Challengers but has also dominated with a stunning strike rate. Rajat Patidar is now third on the orange cap leaders board and has amassed 230 runs in 6 matches with a strike rate of 212.96.
