The report revealed that the seasoned opener did not come to the ground in Mumbai, and even he did not even travel with the team for the crucial training session on Tuesday. This left everyone worried for his availability for the upcoming MI vs PBKS clash on Thursday.
Actually, Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury during MI’s previous IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Rohit looked in good touch and scored 19 runs in just 13 balls, and was playing freely. But in the sixth over of the chase, the Hitman suddenly felt pain in his leg and then decided to walk off the field after trying hard to continue.
MI faces tough call on Rohit Sharma
Hamstring injuries are always risky. After the match, Rohit went for scans and medical tests. Luckily, it is being said that there is no tear found in the reports. But still, he is reportedly not fully fit, and that’s why he skipped the practice session at the Wankhede Stadium.
The MI team management is now thinking very carefully, as they know Rohit is a very important player, and they must not want to take any risk that can make the injury worse in this long event.

Now, the big question is whether Rohit would play against the PBKS, so there are two situations. They may decide to rest Rohit for this home match so that he can regain full fitness to avoid the risk of aggravating the injury or leaving the call to the experienced campaigner.
Notably, Rohit has recently crossed 6,000 runs for MI and became the highest run-scorer in the team’s history. He now has a total of 6013 runs in 231 matches at an average of 29.76 and a strike rate of 132.82 to his name in the world’s biggest franchise tournament.
Will Jacks’ arrival sparks new hope in the Mumbai Indians' camp
Amid growing pressure in the Mumbai Indians camp, they have received a big hope in terms of the arrival of Will Jacks. The England all-rounder was likely to join the MI squad on Tuesday, but there is still no official confirmation. His arrival is being seen as a much-needed boost for the team.
They have struggled this season, especially in the middle order, where inconsistent performances have cost them badly. Jack is known for his fearless batting and ability to handle pressure, which can bring balance to the lineup, and his spin bowling adds to their bowling strength.
