"Biggest Blunder" - Twitter Reacts As RCB Release Josh Hazlewood Ahead Of IPL 2024 Auction

Fans on X reacted after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) released premier Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. All the franchises on Sunday (26th November) revealed their list of retained and released players. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore surprised many when Josh Hazlewood’s name came on the list of released players. The Australian pacer has been exceptional for them ever since he joined them and played a vital role for them. It’s fair to say that his injury concerns might have promoted the team to release him. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore have always had concerns with their bowling. However, the presence of Josh Hazlewood resolved that issue to some extent. But not the management will be back to the drawing board and would be looking to bring some quality pacer in his place for the forthcoming seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Josh Hazlewood joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022 and made a great impact in the very first season of the team. The lanky pacer picked 20 wickets in 12 games with the best of 4/25. In the next season, he bagged 3 wickets in 3 games he played. 

Overall, Josh Hazlewood has played in four editions of the league. He has played 27 games and has picked 35 wickets at an average of 23.14 and an economy of 8.06. The fast bowler is expected to attract huge bidders in the game if he’s available. Various reports have suggested that he’s expecting the birth of his child and might be unavailable.

One surprising release for me was of Josh Hazlewood by RCB. He's such a handy bowler in every phase of the game but I guess this has been done due to his unavailability. Hazlewood was probably going to opt out of the next season, the only believable reason for me.#IPLretention
