Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzurabani has been named in the national team’s white-ball squad against Afghanistan having completed his IPL 2022 stint with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a net bowler.

He was unavailable for the team’s T20I series against Namibia recently but will be present when they face off at home against the rising Afghanistan team.

Sean Williams will not be available, however, after his compassionate leave was extended by the cricket board owing to personal matters. Additionally, Richard Ngarava and Wellington Masakadza will also sit out as they haven’t recovered from their injuries.

Fortunately for the hosts, skipper Craig Ervine cleared his fitness tests and will play in the 3-match ODI series. He sat out of the final T20I against Namibia having tested positive for covid-19.

The upcoming ODI series between the two sides will be part of ICC’s Cricket World Cup Super League. Both teams will be keen to score valuable points which can help secure a direct spot in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
