Veteran Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim was the hero of his team’s historic 10-wicket win over Pakistan in the opening Test of the ongoing two-match Test series last week at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

However, Rahim left the Bangladesh cricket team worried in the ongoing second and final Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. The wicketkeeper made a diving effort at mid-off to stop the boundary but ended up clutching his shoulder in pain.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s shoulder injury shakes Bangladesh’s momentum in the second Test against Pakistan

The concerning incident took place during the 53rd over of Pakistan’s first innings in the ongoing crucial second Test in Rawalpindi. Hasan Mahmud delivered a ball to Mohammad Rizwan, who drove a perfect half-volley straight down the ground. Mushfiqur dived at mid-off, but the ball escaped and raced to the boundary for four runs.

However, Mushfiqur laid down on the ground in pain, leading to a brief break in the game as the Bangladesh star received medical attention. The physiotherapist attended Mushfiqur on the field while the coach, Chandika Hathurusingha, was seen worried in the dressing room.

Bangladesh wicketkeeper walked off the field, holding his shoulder, and his team would be hoping the injury is not too serious. The tourists completely changed the momentum of the game after Pakistan had a great start to the final Test in Rawalpindi.

Rahim is likely to come out to field soon

However, Mohammad Isam reported that Rahim is icing his right shoulder in the dressing room. He also said that the Bangladesh keeper is feeling fine and he is likely to come out to field soon in the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh, as reported by ESPNCricinfo.

Speaking about the ongoing second Test, Pakistan made a stunning comeback, even though they lost their opener Abdullah Shafique for a duck, but as usual, they lost the momentum, thanks to Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling efforts.

The hosts were once at 107/2, but now they found themselves at 179/5, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed each taking two wickets. However, Bangladesh’s fielding has so far been disappointing, as they have already dropped two catches in the ongoing crucial Test match against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Bangladesh bowlers shine bright; Babar Azam flops again

For Pakistan, opener Saim Ayub and captain Shan Masood smashed brilliant fifties, but there was not support from the middle-order, as Babar Azam (31) once again failed to deliver with the bat against Bangladesh. However, Rizwan, who smashed a century in the first Test, yet again stood tall against Bangladesh in the ongoing home Test series.

Now, the hosts would be hoping Rizwan would play another brilliant inning to take them to the competitive total in the crucial game against Bangladesh. Pakistan now only has Rizwan and Salman Agha, who can contribute with the bat and rescue them from another downfall.

Notably, Shaheen Afridi was not picked for the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh. Now, a Cricket Pakistan report claimed that Afridi's omission from the playing XI was influenced by a member of the team management who doesn’t like him, leaving the acer "clearly upset and disheartened."
