The Cricket South Africa (CSA), on Tuesday, confirmed that their veteran batsman, AB de Villiers, will not come out of retirement to play international cricket again. Notably, de Villiers called it time on his international cricketing career in 2018 after citing workload issues and decided not to play international cricket anymore.
However, prior to IPL 2021, Mark Boucher, the South African National Coach, said that Cricket South Africa will do its best to convince de Villiers to come out of international retirement. de Villiers himself confirmed during IPL 2021 that he would be willing to play for South Africa once again if there is a possibility.
AB de Villiers Won’t Come Out Of International Retirement
de Villiers’ statement sent the cricket fans into an ecstatic ride as the former has earned a lot of fandom in world cricket ever since the uprise of T20 cricket. It was also rumoured that AB de Villiers might make a comeback in South African colours in the series against West Indies which is scheduled to take place in the month of June.
AB De Villiers Has Been The Best In The Business
AB de Villiers is still one of the most loved cricketers all across the globe even after calling it quits in 2018. This is because of his special ability to smoke any bowler and rescue any team, especially in limited-overs cricket. In the last decade or so, de Villiers has played in multiple franchise league T20 tournaments across the Globe and various internationally acclaimed bowlers have acknowledged the batsman’s threat.
He was recently seen plying his trade for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021 and he was once again the reason behind the franchise’s success when the tournament came to a hold. RCB had won 5 out of the 7 games that it had played and was third in the points table as the tournament was suspended indefinitely. He played all 7 games and scored 207 runs at an average of 51.75. He also smashed a couple of half-centuries in IPL 2021.
