While everyone is busy with naming the ‘best eleven’ or their ‘best player’ of the decade, former West Indian legend, Brian Lara has named the series of ‘Five Best’ players in putting them in different categories.

Lara took to Instagram to announce the five best bowlers he played against. Lara told fans to not debate, as these are completely his choices. He also mentioned that the players named are in no particular order.

“I have decided to raise my hand up and give you my top fives. Swipe to see the array of top fives I have for you! Please don’t ask where my name is, it’s my top five not yours,” he wrote on Instagram.

In the ‘Five Best Bowlers I have played against’ category, the left-hander picked the Pakistani swing kings Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, the Australian duo of Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, and Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan.

Brian Lara names Tendulkar and Dravid in the top 5 batsmen

The 51-year-old named the legendary batting duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in the top 5 batsmen he played against. Former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting, South African Jacques Kallis, and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara are Lara’s other top three batters.

The Prince of West Indies also opined on the cricketers of the current era. Amongst the bowlers, Lara named Jasprit Bumrah, James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Rashid Khan, and Kagiso Rabada as his 5 best ones.

When it comes to the batsmen, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, AB de Villiers, and Kane Williamson are the southpaw’s best 5 currently.

Recently, the ICC has announced awards for performances of the past decade. Virat Kohli was named the Male cricketer of the decade and the ODI player of the decade. Steve Smith bagged the Test player of the decade, and Rashid Khan was awarded the T20I player of the decade. Australian all-rounder, Ellyse Perry ran away with all the individual awards in the women’s category.
