Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq shared the secret backstory behind the 2019 event when the Pakistan team were accused of not keeping up their fitness. Pakistan lost the clash against India by a big margin and fans criticized them to a great extent.
After Pakistan’s loss against India, many videos of fans criticizing the players went viral on social media. Notably, a video went viral on social media in which a Pakistan journalist accused Pakistan players of eating burgers during the tournament.

Burgers Were Purchased For Three Little Kids: Imam-ul-Haq
While speaking during the podcast show ‘Honest Hour’, Imam-ul-Haq revealed the real story behind the incident. He said they bought those burgers for bowling coach Azhar Mahmood’s three daughters.
“During the 2019 World Cup, we lost the match to India and there were accusations on me, Babar, Sarfaraz and Shoaib Malik that we were drinking and eating burgers. I remember Momin Saqib creating a video and said we’re eating burgers,” Imam-ul-Haq said.
“Me and Hasan Ali, we were in Manchester and had gotten really tired after training ahead of the India game. With us, we had our then bowling coach Azhar Mahmood and his three little daughters.
“Nobody knows to date that the burgers were purchased for those three little kids and not us. And they’re kids so we can’t tell them to buy it on their own. So we took the burgers for them and they eat it,” the left-handed batter further added.

Pakistan lost the match against India in ICC ODI World Cup 2019 by 89 runs. India had posted a mammoth total of 365-5 in 50 overs with a century by Rohit Sharma (140). Virat Kohli also added 77 runs. Imam-ul-Haq got out for 7 runs in the match.
Later, Pakistan could only reach 212-6 in 40 overs when the rain affected the match. Pakistan lost by DLS method. For India, Vijay Shankar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya grabbed 2 wickets each. Pakistan finished in the 5th spot in the points table and failed to reach the semi-finals. On the other hand, India topped the points table but lost the semi-final clash against New Zealand.
