Virat Kohli's best series in Australia came during the 2014-15 tour

Kohli's best series in Australia came during the 2014-15 tour. He took charge of the Indian team and led from the front. The batter racked up over 600 runs in the series and looked very strong against the threatening bowling lineup of the hosts in tough batting conditions.

Kohli enjoyed huge success in the 2018 tour as well, where he slammed a terrific 123 in Perth and it was only his leadership when the India National Cricket Team won the series down under. This was the first that they won the series in Australia.

Virat Kohli has started the ongoing tour to Australia on high

Kohli has started the ongoing tour to Australia on high. The right-hander slammed a terrific century in the opening game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Optus Stadium in Perth and extended his good run down under. He played unbeaten innings of 100 runs and helped his team win the first Test.

While praising Virat Kohli for his innings, Ravi Shastri, who was head coach of the team during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15, recalled an interesting tale. He spoke about how the batter, who wasn't married back then asked if he could get his girlfriend Anushka in Australia.

Can I get my girlfriend in here? I said sure. He said no, the board isn't allowing it - Ravi Shastri on Virat Kohli

Ravi Shastri revealed that he took the call to himself, and the move did wonders for Virat Kohli as he slammed a century in the next game. The former India National Cricket Team head coach called Anushka Sharma the biggest support for the batter. While speaking on Fox Cricket, he explained:

"You know, I remember when I was the coach in 2015. He wasn't married then; he was dating Anushka, and he came and he said, you know, only wives are allowed. Can I get my girlfriend in here? I said sure. He said no, the board isn't allowing it.

"So I made the call, and she came up, and she joined him, and in the very first game, boxing day test, he got 160 and then the same scenes, the flying kiss went out, just like yesterday. So, you know, she's a big support for him."

Anushka Sharma was present in the stands in the first game of the series, and Virat Kohli made sure that he made her feel special. The batter celebrated his ton by passing flying kisses to her wife. Ahead of the game, he was under a lot of pump for his poor failures, but he silenced all his critics in style.
