Wasim Jaffer took a brutal dig at England while heaping praise on India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. The former India batsman praised the bowler for his stunning spell in the second innings of the ongoing first Test in Hyderabad.
Replying to India’s big total in the first innings, England made a good start once again with their openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett adding 45 runs for the opening wicket.
Ravichandran Ashwin broke the stand by dismissing Crawley for 45 before Duckett and Ollie Pope steadied the ship again. They took the score past the 100-run mark and were looking set to bat England to a position of strength before Jasprit Bumrah turned the game on its head.
Wasim Jaffer praises Jasprit Bumrah:
Jasprit Bumrah broke the 68-run stand between Duckett and Pope by dismissing the former with a beauty. He then dismissed the dangerous Joe Root for just 2 to put India on top once again.
As Bumrah starred with the ball, Wasim Jaffer took to X to praise him in his own manner, writing: “They can play Jerusalem but they cannot play Jasprit”

Talking about the game, India scored 436 runs in the first innings to put themselves in the driver’s seat. After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s blazing fifty set the tone, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja scored fifties as well to lead the host’s charge with the bay.
For England, Joe Root was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets while Rehan Ahmed and Tom Hartley picked two wickets apiece.
Earlier in the game, England were bowled out for 246 runs. At one stage, they were cruising at 121 for 3 and were looking destined to post a 300-plus total. However, a collapse saw them getting reduced to 155 for 7.
Captain Ben Stokes then came up with a brilliant knock of 70 runs to rescue his team and helped them post a total close to 250. For India, Ashwin and Jadeja picked up 3 wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel took 2 apiece.
