In the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match no.73, which was the Qualifier 2 between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR), GT skipper Shubman Gill brought up his 5th IPL hundred overall and first of this season in a most important game. He did it in a run chase once again in a knockout game of the tournament.
The GT captain stepped up for the side while chasing a target of 215 runs. Shubman Gill brought up his century in 47 balls, and from the very beginning of the chase, he looked in fine touch. But he was dismissed by Jofra Archer on the score of 104 runs off 53 balls; however, he helped his team secure a winning position in the game, as 33 runs were required from 30 balls.

Shubman Gill, who started the run chase well and did not give a single chance in the match, as he struck a boundary while batting on 96 runs off his team India mate Ravindra Jadeja to bring up a magnificent hundred on the night. He has been in sublime form with 722 runs this season with an average of over 48.
The GT skipper has a strike rate of 163.71 and silenced his critics who spoke about his strike rate last season. This season, he has scored 7 half-centuries and one hundred tonight. This is his second hundred in a run chase in an IPL knockout game; previously, he did so against the Mumbai Indians back in 2023 in a Qualifier 2.
Shubman Gill breaks records
Gill holds the record for the highest individual score in IPL playoff history with his blistering 129 runs off 60 balls against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the 2023 season and is the only player to score two hundreds in a playoff of the rich cash league.
The team India captain now has the fastest hundred by a GT batter; the skipper went past his own 49-ball effort vs MI in the 2023 Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad. He will be looking to continue his form in the next game in the final against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday.
Coming to the match RR scored 214/6 with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi playing another fantastic knock of 96 runs along with Ravindra Jadeja scoring 45 runs and playing with an injury and Donovan Ferreira, who scored 38 off 11 balls.
