Champions Trophy 2025: Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium set to receive 'highest' PKR 7.7 billion investment

As the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is getting closer, the preparations are in full flow in Pakistan. The country is set to host an ICC tournament after nearly 29 years. The last ICC tournament held in Pakistan was the ODI World Cup 1996 when Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium hosted the final.

The Gaddafi Stadium is believed to be the premier stadium in the country. As a result, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to invest a mammoth amount to make it a world-class stadium. The invested amount in Lahore is the most among all the three stadiums.

Champions Trophy 2025: Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium set to receive PKR 7.7 billion

The Gaddafi Stadium has been allocated a massive amount of PKR 7.7 billion to help it develop into a world-class stadium. It is the biggest investement among all the three stadiums hosting the tournament. According to a report on Cricket Pakistan, a recent meeting of the Board of Governors in Faisalabad revealed the updates on the stadium's renovation expenses.

This includes PKR 3,471 million for a concrete office building structure, PKR 1,250 million for the enclosure's steel structure, PKR 1,100 million for the construction of a steel-structured pavilion building, PKR 189 million for a moat, and PKR 330 million for the repalcement of two digital LED screens.

The further details include that the replacement of floodlights at Gaddafi Stadium with 480 LED lights will lead to costs of around INR 523 million. INR 93 million have also been allocated for the external development work.

Champions Trophy 2025: Break-up of Rawalpindi Stadium's expenses

The expenses of the Rawalpindi stadium is believed to be around PKR 1.5 billion rupees. It consists of PKR 393 million for replacing floodlights with 350 LED lights. Meanwhile, PKR 400 million have been allocated for the renovation of the main building, restrooms, and hospitality boxes.

Adding to this, PKR 330 million have been allotted for replacing two LED digital screens while new seating installations will cost PKR 272 million.

The Pindi cricket stadium in Rawalpindi recently hosted the two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, in which Pakistan shockingly lost 0-2.

Champions Trophy 2025: Break-up of Karachi Stadium's expenses

The National Bank Stadium in Karachi will receive the total investment of PKR 3.5 billion. Out of this, PKR 1,500 million have been alloted for the steel structure of the pavilion building and PKR 580 million for the renovation of the main building.

PKR 330 million have been allocated for the two new LED digital screens and PKR 490 million for replacing the floodlights with h450 LED lights. For seat installation, PKR 340 million have been allotted.

Overall, PKR 12.8 billion have been allocated by the PCB for the upgradation of these stadiums. The renovation of the stadiums was started by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi

The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be played from February 19 to March 9 in Pakistan's three cricket stadiums in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi. Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium being the most premier stadium will host the final.
