Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) N Srinivasan revealed how the franchise will celebrate their fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) title win after captain MS Dhoni returns from the T20 World Cup 2021 where he is doing the duty of the Indian team mentor.

This has put the celebrations of the Chennai Super Kings on hold as they wait for their captain to return from UAE and Srinivasan confirmed that MS Dhoni will come to Chennai after he finishes up with the T20 World Cup 2021 duty and a huge program will be organized in the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, where he will share the stage and trophy with Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin.

Srinivasan told reporters during a brief interaction after visiting Lord Venkatachalapathy temple with the IPL trophy, “Dhoni would come to Chennai after doing duty as the Indian team mentor in the T20 World Cup and “share the trophy with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at a function proposed to be organized at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium”.

CSK Source Says Call On MS Dhoni’s Retention For IPL 2022 Will Be Taken After BCCI Clarifies Rules

There will be a mega auction before the IPL 2022 as two new teams will be added to the tournament making it a ten-team one. Though MS Dhoni has not confirmed whether he will continue to play the IPL 2022 as he will be almost 41 when the next season comes around, CSK sources have given a hint about the charismatic captain’s retention.

As with the previous mega auction four seasons ago, the BCCI is likely to give few retentions to each franchise, although not as many as they did last time around in order to level the playing field for the new owners as well.

“The rules of retention are not clear yet…We are not sure about the number of retentions that will be allowed. And a call on that will be made once the rules are known,” a CSK official told PTI.

MS Dhoni had already said that whatever will be decided will be done for the betterment of the CSK team and it’s not about him.
