Arshdeep Singh has received massive inputs on how to keep Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in check as Punjab Kings (PBKS) are gearing up to face Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 40th match of the ongoing TATA Indian Premier League 2026 (TATA IPL 2026) in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 28.

Before this IPL 2026 clash between PBKS and RR, all eyes are on the 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has taken the tournament by storm with fearless batting and unbelievable confidence, showing against the world-class bowlers at such a young age.

Arshdeep Singh gets a clear game plan to stop Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's storm in the PBKS vs RR IPL 2026 clash

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become the biggest headache for the bowlers in the ongoing IPL 2026. His confidence, shot selection, and attacking mindset have made him one of the most dangerous batters this season.

In the last match against SRH, the left-handed batter struck an explosive 36-ball century to send a loud message to rival teams going forward in the tournament. Now, all nine teams are desperately looking for a way to stop Vaibhav this season.

Ahead of the PBKS vs RR clash on Tuesday, Cheteshwar Pujara has shared a clear plan to tackle the young star. He believes that Arshdeep Singh will need to stay very disciplined with his line and length rather than trying anything fancy to keep the young gun silent.

Cheteshwar Pujara shares a smart strategy to keep Vaibhav Sooryavanshi quiet in Mullanpur

Cheteshwar Pujara said on Star Sports’ Game Plan show: “Arshdeep, I think he, being a left-arm seamer, will come over the stumps for Vaibhav. He will have to ensure that he bowls that middle-and-off-stump plan, where the ball is going away from him.

We have seen that when Moshin was bowling against Vaibhav, he got that success against him. Arshdeep will have to do a similar thing.”

Pujara further added, “Try and bowl back of length on the middle and off-stump line. Try to keep hitting that channel more often, and also try to utilize his slower deliveries because Arshdeep has very good slower deliveries. Try to use yorkers in between if needed. But early on, I think the first four or five deliveries, just try and hit that back of length on the middle and off stump.”

Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, and Xavier Bartlett warned of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

However, Pujara made it clear that even with a solid plan, stopping Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is not going to be easy, as the youngster is in outstanding form this season. He has already scored 357 runs in eight matches at an average above 40 and an explosive strike rate of over 230.

He also pointed out that Vaibhav enjoys batting on good pitches and likes to attack quality bowlers without fear, so Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, and Xavier Bartlett will be his main targets in Mullanpur. He also feels Bartlett will be under pressure after a poor outing against DC.

Pujara signed off by saying, “I think Vaibhav, the way he batted in the last game, was brilliant. He got a 100. So hopefully, he will continue batting the same way because, on a good pitch, he likes to take on the bowlers. We will have to do the same against Arshdeep and Marco Jansen as well. Bartlett didn't bowl well in the last game. He conceded more than 50; I think it was close to 60 against Delhi. So, he will be under a bit of pressure, so try to utilize that.”
