A major security breach disrupted operations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the recent IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT). Two subcontracted employees allegedly damaged key surveillance systems, disabling around 240 security cameras on April 24.

Despite disruption concerns about player and spectator safety, stadium authorities quickly activated alternate monitoring systems. Their swift response ensured that the match continued without any further security issues and the Rajat Patidar-led team secured a five-wicket victory while chasing the 205 target.

CCTV Surveillance Systems Destroyed at Chinnaswamy Stadium on RCB Match Day

According to a report by India Today, Cubbon Park police booked Manjunath E and Abdul Kalam in connection with the security breach. Manjunath is from Chitradurga, while Abdul Kalam is from Uttar Pradesh. Both were working under a sub-vendor of IVS Digital Solutions, which provides digital services.

Aditya Bhat filed the complaint regarding the incident. He represents Staqu Technologies Private Limited, a Gurugram-based firm responsible for managing AI-driven surveillance systems at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The company plays a key role in maintaining security during RCB home matches.

During police questioning, both accused admitted to damaging the surveillance equipment. They told officers that IVS Digital Solutions had not cleared their pending payments, which totaled ₹10 lakh, for several months, leading to frustration and this extreme action.

Accused Bypass Security and Disable 240 Cameras at Chinnaswamy Stadium

Police investigations revealed how Manjunath E and Abdul Kalam carried out the act. They allegedly used a deactivated access card to bypass security and entered the restricted CCTV server room at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium without valid authorization during the match.

Once inside, they cut multiple Network Video Recorder systems along with key fibre optic connections. This act disrupted live surveillance across critical areas, including entry gates, perimeter zones, concourses, and the D Corporate Stand.

Due to the damage to these fibre connections, Staqu Technologies Private Limited could not provide live camera feeds. As a result, police personnel lost access to around 240 cameras, which affected real-time monitoring and crowd control during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans match.

Back-to-Back Incidents Raise Serious Security Concerns at Chinnaswamy Stadium

This major surveillance breach adds to growing concerns around the management and security operations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Such back-to-back incidents have raised serious questions about the effectiveness of existing protocols at one of the most high-profile IPL venues in southern India.

Just days before this incident, Bengaluru police cracked down on a ticket black-marketing racket outside the stadium. Authorities arrested a canteen worker named Chandrashekhar for running illegal ticket sales during another high-profile match.

Police seized around 100 premium tickets from him, which he was allegedly selling at inflated prices ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Lucknow Super Giants match. The incident further exposed ongoing gaps in stadium management this season.
