South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been banned from playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for one year by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Corbin Bosch was picked by Peshawar Zalmi as a diamond category player but pulled out of the PSL 2025 after getting a chance to play for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).
PCB bans Corbin Bosch from PSL for one season
Bosch was signed by Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for the ongoing IPL 2025, which clashed with the PSL 2025 schedule. This led the Proteas star to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League, forcing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take strict action against him.
The PCB had issued a legal notice to the South African all-rounder for breaching the contract and has now handed a one-season ban from the PSL. The PCB confirmed that Bosch has accepted his mistake, but he will not be allowed to take part in the next season of the PSL in 2026.
I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL: Corbin Bosch
Meanwhile, Corbin Bosch has apologized for pulling out of the PSL 2025, saying he regrets letting down Peshawar Zalmi fans and the Pakistan cricket community. He accepted full responsibility for his actions and the one-year ban. He hopes to learn from the mistake and make a comeback in the future.
Corbin Bosch said in a statement released by the PCB, “I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community. I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions. To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down.”
Bosch added, “I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the PSL. This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans.”
PSL attracts big names like David Warner and Kane Williamson
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League was scheduled during the IPL window this year to make sure more players were available. By holding the PSL 2025 draft after the IPL auction, teams could pick players who didn’t get selected for the IPL 2025.
This strategy worked well, bringing in big names like David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, Rassie van der Dussen, and Kane Williamson, who all went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Notably, PSL 10 is all set to kick off on April 11 with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.
On the other hand, a total of 24 matches have already been played in the ongoing IPL 2025, where the Mumbai Indians have lost four of their five games so far.
The Mumbai Indians are currently sitting on the eighth spot with only 2 points, while Bosch is yet to get a game in the tournament, but he played as a substitute fielder.
