Jason Roy is among the names to watch out for as Trinbago Knight Riders named their retentions and signed players for CPL 2024. The season starts from August 30 and the final will be played on October 6.

Meanwhile, Jason Roy and Tim David were the prime acquisitions for TKR heading into CPL 2024. Roy was set to be part of KKR in IPL 2024 but pulled out this season. Tim David played a season for the St Lucia Kings in the CPL earlier.

Afghanistan spinner Waqar Salamkheil and Ireland left-arm seamer Josh Little are other important names in the squad. USA pacer Ali Khan will return for another stint with the franchise. TKR stalwarts, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran form the core of the side. Akeal Hosein and Dwayne Bravo also add to the core of the side.

Kolkata Knight Riders won third IPL title in the IPL earlier this year. The Trinbago Knight Riders which is held by the same management would hope for them to win another title in their cabinet.

TKR ended up as the runners-up of the last edition losing out the final against Guyana Amazon Warriors. They won four CPL titles starting with 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020. They are trophyless for the last three years and would like to end the drought. With success in the IPL, the CPL franchise would like to replicate that success in their domestic tournament.

The franchise squad currently consists of 15 players, with space to add two more in the upcoming draft, which will be held in July. This time, two U-23 players will feature in the CPL draft.

Every franchise for that matter has retained a strong core and added some new players making the team even more stronger. These strategic additions are expected to strengthen the Trinbago Knight Riders' lineup for the upcoming CPL 2024, reflecting the franchise's commitment to bringing in top-tier talent.

Speaking specifically about Jason Roy, he played the Pakistan Super League before the IPL 2024 and decided to withdraw himself from IPL 2024 for KKR. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for KKR who roped in Phil Salt as his replacement. His exploits with Sunil Narine at the top-order became a trend-setter in IPL 2024. Salt scored 435 runs in 12 matches at an average of almost 140 and a strike rate of 183.

Sunil Narine on the other hand, scored 488 runs for KKR and took 17 wickets with the ball to become the MVP in the tournament for the third time. He will be the key player for the Trinbago Knight Riders. Meanwhile, by signing up Roy, the Knight Riders franchise have placed the faith in him for the long run.
